Ennis native Jesse Roberts, a 2010 graduate of EHS, recently returned from his third international missions trip. He was in Kenya at the same time as president Barack Obama, though Roberts came for a much higher cause than Obama’s preaching politics to a soft audience.
The 6’4 Roberts, who is entering his senior year at Dallas Baptist University, was part of a 15-member team from Next Worldwide, a church planting missions organization based in Flower Mound, Texas. His short-term venture was 10 days in length and cost $2,500.
Considering breakfast everyday was fried Spam and mango juice, followed by a daily lunch of PB&J sandwiches, it was far from inexpensive. His lodging was at a so-called resort, but was far below a Motel 6.
