Ennis has a storied history of settlers from the Czech Republic coming to escape war-torn central Europe. Here they began new lives in a town where the railroad and cotton fields met. This weekend one of Ennis’ own, Lauren Trojacek, travels to the capital of Czechoslovakia on a month long operatic tour.
Trojacek, 22, whose parents, James and Connie, own the Telico Gin, graduated from both Ennis High School and the University of Oklahoma. Her major, vocal performance, led her into opera.
Upon completion of 10 concerts in Prague, she will become the new choir director at both Ennis H.S. and Ennis Junior High.
